Happy Birthday Dr. King

Spread the love

– Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. –

See? I remembered *somebody’s* birthday this week. Maybe I’m not so senile after all. 😛

  1. I forgot his brithday until just now.I had to give my girls the 4/11 about why they celeberate his birthday.I got the feeling that they could care less right now..lol

  2. aww naw – it’s prolly cause there are signs everywhere, banks closed/schools closed/google changed its sign, face it, you’re still an ole dirty man
😉 and i say that with the dearest of heart 🙂

  3. Actually, his real birthday was last week – today’s just the day we’re celebrating it because Monday is more convenient for a3-day weekend . 😉

  4. January 15, 1929 to be exact, Lambchop.

Yeah, I was running short on time this morning to post. I wanted his quote about “eye for an eye …will leave us all blind”, but I saw this one about “unarmed truth and unconditional love”… and I thought it was perfect for the current state of affairs. That dude so rocks!

  5. face it, you’re still an ole dirty man

Hee hee! Jewdez, darlin… you just have a way of making ANYTHING sound like a good thing. :0)

  6. Fortunately, explaining this holiday to my kids is real easy. They know that if it weren’t for Dr. King, their Daddy wouldn’t have been able to marry their Mama in several states in these United States.

It helps when you can bring it close to home. ;-D

    Great post, -e- … thanks!

  7. THANK YOU for this post. I’ve been feeling especially sensitive and reflecting today. MLK has been heavy on my mind with the prospect of war and all the peace protests. Wish he were still here….

  8. Unfortunately, MLK day is getting to be just another day for massive sales at the mall.
The originators of this Holiday did not want this to happen.
I went to the movies, and the lines were loooonnnnngggg!
    ….-
    COMMENT:
One of the greatest men in history absolutely deserve some birthday wishes, yes. Nice post 🙂

  9. It’s easy to remember his birthday if you get the day off! Like we ALL should. Like *I* don’t! 🙁

By the way, this site is messed in Mozilla.
(And don’t say I should be using crapped up IE, because my shitty Windows is breaking down because I haven’t reformatted in year, and if I open so much as one IE browser window, everything gets buggered up. But Mozilla doesn’t cause me any system problems at all.)
