The mayor of a Polish town bordering Ukraine presented a white T-shirt bearing an image of President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia to the far-right Italian senator Matteo Salvini, and told him he had to wear it if he wanted to meet refugees. Before the war, Mr. Salvini was a fan of Mr. Putin.
Ukraine's representative told judges at the International Court of Justice that 'the court has a role' in stopping Russia, as he urged them to issue an injunction demanding that Russia end its invasion of Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia's military plans had been 'ruined' by Ukrainian resistance and portrayed the invasion as directionless even as Russia captured a major city for the first time during the war.
