Benedict XVI: German cardinal elected pope
“Just call me ‘Der Pope’…” his eminence humbly insists.
VATICAN CITY – Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger of Germany, a hard-line guardian of conservative doctrine, was elected the new pope Tuesday evening in the first conclave of the new millennium. He chose the name Pope Benedict XVI and called himself “a simple, humble worker.”

For those of you hoping for a kinder, gentler Pope who will ease up and allow birth control and priests marrying, and gay rights? FORGET IT!

The Last Pope: Examining Nostradamus and Malachy (No. 288)
I’ve been hearing a lot of rumors about old prophecies since Pope John Paul II’s death about him being the last Pope and Christianity fizzling out by the end of the 20th Century. Actually according to this book, and this conspiracy site, he is the next-to-last Pope. The link above interests me more, as Nostradamus predicts there would be five Popes after the controversial Pius XII. (JP2 was the fourth Pope after him)

I was quite taken back with Reverend Mykeru’s writeup on Pope John Paul II’s passing.
I’ve been mainly of the Protestant brand of Christianity, so the Pope always represented the “wrong” kind of Christianity, though I never took a hatred to Catholicism like Jack Chick did.
Actually, I really liked this Pope. Sure he was “a funny little guy with the beanie” and the butt of a lot of my jokes sometimes, but all in all he was a good man who had the task of holding together a dying and archaic institution, wracked with scandals and falling apart at the seams.

Theologian calls novel insulting ‘sack full of lies’
Nothing spells “desperation and distraction” more than a Vatican assault on a book that’s already been out for two years.
“REAL history??!!??!?” Does he really wanna go there? The Cathars also believed that Jesus and Mary Magdelene had a thing going on and they were exterminated by the Catholic Church for it in the Middle Ages.
Current history (or should I say scandals) don’t make them look too good either, when you think about it.
