Bye-Bye-Bye to Diabetes!

Carole has put Do It Right Construction as one of the proud sponsors of WKRZ’s

“Bye-Bye-Bye to Diabetes” marathon. Local DJ, Rocky is in their “Skybox” (See pics on the site) with 13 year old Lisa Marie O’Brien to raise money for the American Diabetes Association.

It’s a really sad story, as Lisa lost her dad to diabetes last year, and now her mom has been diagnosed with it. The marathon started last night, and they agreed to play N’Sync’s “Bye-Bye-Bye” for 24 hours straight (estimated 500 times).

Me? I would’ve gone postal after two hours, but I wish them all the best!

Livin’ La Tortilla Loca™!

Just got the “OK” from Rubin Enterprises to put this up. I was recently hired to make the logo for their line of products called “La Tortilla Loca™”. Really great people, and it was a pleasure working for them. Yesterday their CD full of artwork went out; variations of the logo, the original 8″ full-body “Tortilla Man”, RGB versions for the web and CMYK layouts for print. (It’s a lot more impressive in its 6″ x 8″ version, trust me!)

So when you see this logo at supermarkets… you can go “HEY! I know the guy who made that logo!”.

Carole got all the documents and promotional items I made from the printers today. So (despite only losing 10 lbs this week) I feel pretty damn productive.

Ahhhh… Fan Mail!

See kiddies? This is why so many Elementary School kids write I wanna be Eric Brooks when he grows up!“. Check out what sweet little Jesse signed here and here in my Guestbooks….

This is called “Trolling for hits”, and your CyberPal don’t play dat. It’s not my fault that his site’s counter is teetering toward “148” since July. Normally, when a kind soul signs my guestbooks, and forgets to add the “http:” I help them out and fix it, so you can all visit them and enjoy their sites…

But like I said… “E” don’t play dat… even if you have the balls to sign your name.

Whatever happened to… moi?

I know it seems like I’ve dropped off the face of the web lately. I sorta did… A lot of good friends have been worried, so I’ll give you a quick recap of what’s going on in my section of CyberTown:

  • I’ve been in full swing making logos, layouts and original artwork for a company in Arizona. Would love to tell you more, but they’re in the process of trademarking and patenting their products… so I really can’t yet…. SORRY!
  • Also creating ads and a media blitz in the Poconos for Carole’s Home Remodeling Company
  • Another scary week for the Tribe Called Brooks, involving Lawyers, Constables, Magistrates and other legal bullshit (and we’re told this will be the next two years of our lives…). Again, legal stuff… can’t talk about it.
  • I’ve cut off most of the middle-of-my-back-length hair ’cause I Goddamn felt like it.. Actually, I’ve been told I look younger and better-looking, between that and my radical new (heh heh) “crash diet”… lost 40lbs in a month and a half so far.

Did I mention it was my birthday…? (Sad puppydog face) :0(

Pardon my WHAT????

So, let me get this straight…

Internet Explorer 5* has basically been out for a year now, and you still didn’t make an icon for when your site is bookmarked????

How: Take a square .GIF image, and shrink to 16×16 pixels. Re-enlarge to 32×32.

Use a file converting tool like Irfanview, and save as “favicon.ico”. It’ll look blurry at the standard icon size, but IE5 will re-shrink it, and it’ll look great!

Implementation: Well, if you’re using only one favicon.ico for your domain, just upload into your main (public_html) folder.

Various Icons I use at this site.

To use several (like I do) insert this into the <HEAD> of your document:

<LINK REL=”SHORTCUT ICON” HREF=”http://www.yourdomain.com/pathto/favicon.ico”>
* This doesn’t work with Netscape Navigator… sorry!

(But then again, what *DOES* work in Netscape???)

Weekend Surfing Picks….

Another great venue for indie bands to get noticed.
