But I ain’t going nowhere without some Biker Chicks!!!!!.

This is something I feel I must clarify in the utmost expediency (look it up, you dorks).

No one has said this yet, I’m doing this on my own initiative. I’m reading the last few things I’ve written and I keep going on with the “Blog Nicely” bit. First of all my people (folks that have been with me through the beginning) have no idea what the hell I’m talking about at this moment. (More on that later….)

I’m talking about ThinkDink’s proposal of “Non-Negative Blogging“.

It sounds like I’m ridiculing this concept, and I’m joining the class clowns and drop-kicking it…. I’m not. I actually support Jessica’s initiative…as I find there are waaaaay too many sensitive souls out there that don’t understand this is a cold, cruel web… where your work is on a public forum. Always under a microscope, always ready to be criticized, one email away from you having a bad day…..

Believe it or not, I AM blogging nicely.

I continue to encourage and spotlight the work of my friends, offer kind words of encouragement. I’ll gladly tell Zippygirl that I find her entries very insightful; how Eric Ruhalter, The Webmistress and Cathie Walker are comedic geniuses; Tom Fulp is a genius PERIOD; Misty and Bonnie Burton are cuties; Amanda Formaro and Jeffrey Zeldman make great webzines, and how I appreciated Netscape (soon-to-be) Diva‘s tips on making my page work better on all platforms; encourage up and coming artists like Skizz, Aaron Cohen , and Warren “Texel” Ahner, not to mention all my friends from the “Internet Day” crowd….

However, when some guy that doesn’t know me, incites a riot, destroys all the evidence, and then starts saying shit about me that he should take a deep look inside and wonder who he’s really talking to… yeah, you’re gonna hear that too.

Then there’s obnoxious, overbearing bastards like Jon Sullivan and Matthew Rossi . Well, we got this “testosterone-charged” rivalry going on. Like we’re all sitting there on our Harleys, passing a 40-ounce beer to each other: “Here ya fucking dickhead!”, “Yeah, man…I love you too…asshole.” It’s a comedy act we’re fine-tuning on MetaFilter, and then taking on the road, starting with a three-week engagement at Lake Tahoe.

Basically, I perceive “Non-negative Blogging” as “Don’t dish it out if you can’t take it/Don’t dish it out to those who can’t take it.” I choose to feel people out and deal with them in the same way they deal with others.

I have just been informed via messenger (A pug taking a whizz on my front door) that Faith objects to being called a “loudmouth” (dammit, stop snickering out there…how much more trouble do you want to get me in????).

She’s still gonna call me “dickless”. I just know it.

This “blogging nicely” stuff is really holding me back here…. at least two new names have already come to mind.

For those whining “Ohhhhh, not ‘blog-nicely’ agaiiiiin”…. I am not from your world. Neither are most of the people who visit my site. My section of cyberspace has barely heard of Jeffrey Zeldman… they know nothing of Digital Divas, Jason Kottke and Derek Powazek (whom I never heard of until January). So you’ll have to excuse me if I rehash a “dead horse” every now and then; or sound a bit redundant…. as you all kid yourselves into thinking you and your pantheon of “Web Gods” have this global reach….

I’m not saying that with any disrespect or resentment intended (well, maybe a little).

But most of “my people” are new to the web, or share interests different from yours. They come with their own stories, various levels of talent and have their own heroes.

I welcome you all into my world, but what they say goes here. For they are MY “Web Gods”.

Now guys… I really got a lot of work to do today, can I please resume my thoughts on a weekly basis????

Blog Nicely Judge Wuss… you never know when I may be reading.

Leader Diva has spoken to me. She disagrees, but respects my opinion on this… She felt it’s a matter for the individual, offending Divas to work out and settle….you know what?
I respect that. I also understand it’s been worked out… I really respect that (and want to adamantly stress that none of us so-called “anti-diva-movementers”[via judge wuss] had anything to do with it. ALSO: I am not now, nor have I ever been anti-diva… just voiced an opinion that’s all.). I was upset that they were quiet and since then Netscape Diva, Random Diva, Bleu Diva, (Jeezus, this is starting to sound like the Spice Girls!), and many more have all spoken up and voiced their thoughts… and I really really respect that!

To make it worse, Kitty Diva wished me a happy father’s day, Loudmouth Diva actually said something nice (I think?)…and they’re all being nice to me…STOP THAT!!! …why can’t you all be miserable unforgiving evil people like me????? Like I don’t feel bad enough coming down on you all like that???? STOP THAT!!!

With the Pocono 500 going on less than 3 miles away from me, the Tribe called Brooks ain’t going anywhere this weekend.

I gave the Digital Divas story a quick re-write and renamed it

“Digital Divas II: A condemnation really really bad scolding“. Personally, I thought I was too rough on them… I’m hoping they will see this as a golden opportunity to make it up to this kid and show us what the concept of this organization is all about. By and large they really are a wonderful bunch of ladies…

How shocked I was to find out that Loudmouth Diva was nowhere to be found in this fiasco. I’d tell her that I think she’s hysterical, and her blog is quite entertaining… but we got this great hate/hate relationship going on… Why ruin a fun thing?

• Once I noticed I was on fire, I decided to relax and enjoy the fall. – Some seriously deep thinking, book quoting and logging by Matthew Rossi. He’s a good buddy of mine at MetaFilter. Man, I love this guy!
• *N SYNC 4-EVER! – It’s a pretty amazing site for a number of reasons: Packed with details, lots of fun stuff, and the entire site is owned, operated and maintained by a 13 year old girl….
• ThinkDink v.02 – Cyber home of Jessica Reynolds and her son Ben. You can peek into their daily lives with her weblog or surf some of the sites she’s created. She does some pretty nice work.
• Personality Creations – Jackie Capps is another phenomenally talented lady. Packed with clip art, craft tips, games… if you somehow manage to get through everything that site has to offer, you can send personalized letters for all occasions at her other site, All Letters.Com… a definite site worth bookmarking to return around the Holidays for the kids (Don’t worry, I’ll remind you).

Well, maybe it just hit a cold patch.

I am officially billing WHUZZUP as a kind-of “blog” now…
For a number of reasons:

• I’m getting a lot of visits from the MetaFilter crowd lately (secret: post a lot of obnoxious shit there, and they all wonder what you could possibly have left to say in the privacy of your own site…) their eyes are trained to hit links with the word “blog” in it.
• No one seems to know/care about this section as I have called it “updates” for almost two years…gotta change with the times, baby!
• I have been “sorta-blogging” this page via a customized CGI script long before you lil’ whippersnappers ever heard of Blogger or Pyra. Most likely, during my annual redesign, when I convert this site into XHTML, I’ll add a lil’ CyberPal face next to each entry, so you can link to it and amaze your friends with how much stupidity I can spew in a week…

Yeah… once a week! I got a life you know. Sorta.

Go ahead Jay, Tom, Matthew and Jo… let me have it with the “I told you so’s”, as I swore it was never gonna happen on this site. So, what do you think?

I’m withdrawing my support for the Digital Divas in their “Diva & Goliath” campaign.

When catty, immature members can attack a 13 year old girl for a simple mistake… well, that makes me sick to my stomache! From what I’ve read all over the place, and from the emails I’ve been getting, most of the web feels the same way.

I’ve removed all traces of “Battle of the Digital Divas“, and replaced it with
“Digital Divas II: A condemnation“.
