Weekend Surfing Picks…

• Sociedad Gastada – Skizz had his site down for the longest time. Sociedad Gastada brings it back with a roaring vengeance. A powerful blend of sounds and images, he’s just getting better and better at what he does. The splash page has Elmo surrounded by at least a dozen hotspots revealing hidden subliminal messages. It’s possible the entire work is open to interpretation, but it stuck me that the Elmo doll took on several forms; From a corporate icon, to a hideous monster in “Kiddie Corruption“, to even a statement that we’re all puppets… trapped in this “Wasted Society“. Not since his I Am A Designer, did a piece reach out and literally speak to me somewhere in my soul. It just kicked my ass!Before you click that link, I suggest you have your resolution settings set to 1024 x 768, it’s the only way you can take it all in (and believe me, I don’t change my settings for anyone!).
• The Apple of My Eye- I’ll bet you any amount of money it’s the cutest thing you’ve ever seen! I don’t know why, but I love it. It caught me off guard.

• God’s Billboards – You know all those billboards across the highways everywhere? Duane Sorensen has them all together in this virtual highway with the theme from “Forrest Gump” playing in the background. Legend has it that those billboards are paid for anonymously in cash, and no one knows who’s behind it. (wanna bet the guy looks like George Burns?). My favorite: “What part of ‘Thou Shalt Not’ didn’t you understand????“

SHEESH! Some people have no sense of humor.
But then again, I stopped hearing the laughter weeks ago.

Or maybe she does by trying to imply he’s anything like me.
(Man, what’s it gonna take to make people consider me a mad genius???)

What on earth would make our Miss Kaminsky assume that some guy that seems to cause a ton of trouble on Yahoo Clubs (with a name like “God Of Mischief”, no less.) would be moi? Well you gotta admit “Fer Fuck’s Sake” is kind of her trademark catchphrase….. and lots of guys think she’s hot.

Upon further examination of the club, it seems the other person that this club member was responding to, has a homepage with graphics fully accredited to Kimberly…small world, huh? Not to mention there’s actually a member in the “Mad As Hell” club that goes by the name “ctr_alt_ego” …. COINCIDENCE?

I’ll tell you what’s going on… it’s a conspiracy. THOSE DAMN DIVAS ARE TRYING TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD AGAIN!!!!!

Next thing you know, they’ll come up with some cockamamie story about me living a double life and shacking up with a chick on another blog. Wouldn’t surprise me a bit. It’s slander I tell you!!!!!!!

Faith, you know outside of this page, I only have nice things to say about you. But, dammit, you bring out the worst in me. ;0)

 

Carole has put Do It Right Construction as one of the proud sponsors of WKRZ’s

“Bye-Bye-Bye to Diabetes” marathon. Local DJ, Rocky is in their “Skybox” (See pics on the site) with 13 year old Lisa Marie O’Brien to raise money for the American Diabetes Association.

It’s a really sad story, as Lisa lost her dad to diabetes last year, and now her mom has been diagnosed with it. The marathon started last night, and they agreed to play N’Sync’s “Bye-Bye-Bye” for 24 hours straight (estimated 500 times).

Me? I would’ve gone postal after two hours, but I wish them all the best!

Just got the “OK” from Rubin Enterprises to put this up. I was recently hired to make the logo for their line of products called “La Tortilla Loca™”. Really great people, and it was a pleasure working for them. Yesterday their CD full of artwork went out; variations of the logo, the original 8″ full-body “Tortilla Man”, RGB versions for the web and CMYK layouts for print. (It’s a lot more impressive in its 6″ x 8″ version, trust me!)

So when you see this logo at supermarkets… you can go “HEY! I know the guy who made that logo!”.

Carole got all the documents and promotional items I made from the printers today. So (despite only losing 10 lbs this week) I feel pretty damn productive.

This is called “Trolling for hits”, and your CyberPal don’t play dat. It’s not my fault that his site’s counter is teetering toward “148” since July. Normally, when a kind soul signs my guestbooks, and forgets to add the “http:” I help them out and fix it, so you can all visit them and enjoy their sites…

But like I said… “E” don’t play dat… even if you have the balls to sign your name.

• KareBlog – Kare (aka “GoDdEsSoFShEnAnIgAnS“) has had it with Geocities, and moved to her new home at kare.bappy.com/ redesigned the pages, and it’s running great! Check out her piece on “Mr. Wonderful”, it’s hilarious!
• TECFA- From the University of Geneva…. this colorful page has an amazing amount of resources for anyone looking to design web pages. I would love to know who made this, as they seem to know so many of the same people I do. Great stuff!
• Sony Disc Manufacturing – It’s design resources for manufacturing & printing CD’s & DVD’s they have all the clip art you need in Adobe Illustrator files and even CD Design Templates for Adobe PageMaker. Specs, tips & more… If you make/design CD’s it’s worth a visit.
• Dave’s Place – A very witty blog… and I’m hoping a quick plug’ll get him to tell me what the Magic 8 Ball told his friend Becky to do.
