Thank you cards….

I try not to bear my soul online much anymore. It just seems when I’m revealing a little bit of humanity, it serves no other purpose but to hand ammunition to my enemies. But I really gotta share this one:

Yesterday I took on the horrific task of cleaning out this desk.
(Pause for dramatic “GASP”)

More thanks to…

Jann, Donna , The Mighty T, and Klondike Kate for getting the charity ball rolling and going above and beyond the call of duty…

Sue, Dr. D., Deborah, Lee, Dave, Tammie (who’s the birthday girl on Monday), Larry (yes, *that* Larry), and Kim for all the kind words, hilarious E-Cards, and making me feel so darned loved.

Donate to the Pennsylvania Music Foundation

Not a bad week…

I’m half way through all the registration modules, and the Pennsylvania Music Awards got an endorsement FROM State Representative Kelly Lewis.

birthdayboykai.jpgOh, and btw, today is Johnny Kai’s birthday. If I haven’t mentioned it lately, he’s not only one of the headlining entertainers at Tamiment, he’s also the mastermind behind the PA and Hawaiian Music awards…

Blackouts, Bob Dylan, & Life in the Poconos

Considering we’re only 60 miles away FROM New York City, we’re pretty fortunate to have not lost power… but then again we ALWAYS go without lights during every thunderstorm.

Today on the Pocono Record: Bill Doolittle recalls the Blackout of 1965 in NYC. Pretty cool stuff, as he had to share his space with the staff of The New York Times.

I was only two or three months old during that Blackout… so I don’t remember much. I do remember Bushwick turning INTO a war-zone in 1977. That sucked.

Mountain Laurel Making History

Mountain Laurel Opening Night
I’m not sure if you guys are INTO that “making history” stuff, but I just created a slideshow for work about last night’s grand opening of the Mountain Laurel Center for the Performing Arts.

It’s an all-weekend gala including a $500 a plate dinner, featured guest of honor, Tom Ridge, major political figures…

History was just made.

Just so you know.

In case someone forgot to tell you.

Bob Dylan’s coming next week, btw.

Lotsa Fonts! CD

Lotsa Fonts!

You know you want one.

While I’m sure Ren and Alwin would have just been happy with me burning a plain disk and mailing it out… but you know me. I have to make a big production out of everything. (It’s going out today, guys. I swear!) :0)

Lotsa Fonts! will be available toward the end of this month to commemorate this site’s 5th anniversary on August 23rd. It will be a members-only deal, and it’ll only cost as much as shipping & materials (I have no intention of making money off of someone else’s hard work).

Over 2,000 free and shareware true type fonts for just a couple of bucks, right there on your desk.

Think about it.
More details in our next newsletter in about a week.

Still working my widdle fingers to the bone on the Pennsylvania Music Awards site.

Johnny has a tentative date for the SHOW next year at the Mountain Laurel Center for the Performing Arts.

… assuming we survive any potential terrorist attacks the grand opening next Saturday as Tom Ridge and Dick Cheney are expected in my neck of the woods (It *IS* named the “Tom Ridge Pavilion”, after all…silly.). Security measures have been… to say the least… scary.

Coming Soon…

So how’s the Pennsylvania Music Awards site coming along?

Pennsylvania Music Awards

Funny you should ask…
I’ve been working on the layout in Photoshop for the past three days. I was up until 4:30 this morning hoping to finish the mock-up, as Johnny Kai has a meeting with a grant writer on Thursday.

I tell you, some of us old-skewl designers should CHECK out template sites like Template Monster or Boxed Art for inspiration and new techniques. It’s just like the music biz, baby… you have to keep up with the latest styles, or you can become yesterday’s news really fast!
