Boob-O-Vision

(I’m reprinting this from a discussion board because I’m too lazy to write a new post)

Another fascinating revelation (well for me, anyway), I’m currently reading “The Devil’s Notebook” and stumbled across an interesting factoid: Anton LaVey hated television.

Fun quizzes II

Ethical Philosophy Selector – Whose philosophies are you most like (Assuming you have ethics to begin with). I was most surprised to see me seeing eye to eye with Fred Nietzche. Militant Atheists and those annoying FreeThinkers worship him. But I really got to admit he’s got a point with “There are no facts. Only Interpretation.”

Vatican assault on DaVinci Code

Theologian calls novel insulting ‘sack full of lies’

Nothing spells “desperation and distraction” more than a Vatican assault on a book that’s already been out for two years.

‘This book is a sack full of lies against the Church, against the real history of Christianity and against Christ himself,’ said Bertone, archbishop of northern Genoa.

“REAL history??!!??!?” Does he really wanna go there? The Cathars also believed that Jesus and Mary Magdelene had a thing going on and they were exterminated by the Catholic Church for it in the Middle Ages.

Current history (or should I say scandals) don’t make them look too good either, when you think about it.

The wild & wonderful world of Jack Chick

Don't fear the Reaper
I love Jack Chick, I really do. I find myself addicted to his tracts and his odd reasoning sometimes. He’s a great artist and he captures those unsaved people getting livid over hearing the name “Jesus Christ” like nobody else!

Basically there’s three ways to convert people to Christianity.

  • There’s the tried and true method of capturing and torturing them and their loved ones , until they accept Christ into their heathen lil’ hearts…(made popular during the Crusades and the inquisition)
  • There’s the rarely used tactic of actually practicing Christianity, loving your neighbor and showing acts of kindness to let them know that you are following Jesus’ principles…
  • Then there’s Jack Chick’s method. Put out a comic book that lets you know that a horrifying fate of eternal torment is waiting for you in Hell unless you accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.
  • Basically it boils down to this with the Chick method:
    If you’re a Catholic… you’re going to hell
If you watch Harry Potter…. you’re going to hell
If you read any other Bible besides the King James version… you’re going to hell
If you’re a mormon, freemason, buddhist, muslim… well, three guesses where you’re going? (The first two guesses don’t count).

  • Here is a parody where Jack Chick dies and faces judgment, like so many of the other characters he’s written about. It’s freakin’ hilarious!
  • Here are the rest of Weird Dave’s Chick Parodies… (Warning: Excessive laughter may cause damage to your computer screen if the operator is foolishly drinking a beverage. Be smart, don’t drink and surf parody sites!)
  • Church of the Subgenius steps in with a parody of “Somebody loves me”, in which the abused boy accepts “Bob” as his Lord and Saviour just before dying…
  • Taking a hiatus…

Starting Tuesday, I re-emerge back into the workforce (don’t expect me to even mention it any more online, as many aspects of my life are now staying private.)

Finally bit the bullet and bought The DaVinci Code today. I’ve heard so much about it…. I’ll post a review when I’m done, k?

Update: : 1:39PM. Just finished the book. WOW.
Recommended reading if you’re a history buff/intellectual/conspiracy theorist (or all of the above)….

    Reasons for Christmas II

    The Reasons for Christmas Project
The Secret Society of Happy People – Now THERE’S a GROUP just asking for persecution, donchathink?

Nah. It’s all good (as sick and twisted as it seems to me). I say more power to ’em. Better than spending the holidays with a bunch of depressed shmucks spreading doom & gloom, that’s for sure.

Like Billy Joel sings: “I’d rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints”.

Tonight’s the Reasons for Christmas II concert at the Hillside Inn (You’re coming, right? You regetted missing all the fun last year).

As my first day as a freelance graphic artist, tonight’s ORDER of business is… well, business.

All the movers and shakers of the Poconos will be there, and I just whipped up a batch of business cards to pass out.

I just hope all the performers at the concert will have the decency to keep the music down while I and said movers & shakers talk bidness. 🙂

    Protecting the brand

While revamping my Daily Carlinisms, I stumbled on this at George Carlin.Com:

…Floating around the Internet these days, posted and e-mailed back and forth, are a number of writings attributed to me, and I want people to know they’re not mine. Don’t blame me.

Right now, he’s doing what we in marketing call “protecting his brand”. A “brand” is an abstract concept that invokes trust and reputation. This is why someone will buy Tylenol instead of the big-ass bottle of acetaminophen next to it, at half the price.

When you think of the name “George Carlin”, a certain level of quality in comedy comes to mind (Another good example is “Microsoft”).

Is there anything worse than re-runs?

I hope so. Cause I am fresh out of content.

A blast FROM the past: E-TV – All -=e=- all the time

It requires the RealPlayer Basic of course.

    In my March 2001 episode-

    • Spiderman Getting Down
    • A virtual Tour FROM Reis Homes (Doesn’t work as Reis Homes no longer exists)
    • American Online Commercial (The Debut of “Stress Man” on the site)
    • (Check it out)

I’m backing up all my files, and I came to the realization that I start a lot of things and never finish them.

    I hate that about me.

I should really sit down one day and concentrate on doing ONE thing really well, rather than a lot of half-assed things.

Doing research on commercials FROM the Sixties… some cool links to bring back memories coming up.
