Mountain Laurel Center for the Performing Arts is back, baybee!

State Rep. Kelly Lewis has done it again:
Lewis Announces Mountain Laurel Center Labor Day Concert Series“.

Of course I knew about it. It’s one of many surprises and changes we’ve got coming down the the pike for the ailing entertainment/tourist industry of the Poconos.

A lot of water and bad blood (and wasted money) has gone under the bridge since last year’s historic opening with Tom Ridge, and the disaster it slowly became.

It was run (to the ground) by morons.

McGreevey: So friggin’ what?

I kinda figured there was more to the story of NJ Governor Jim McGreevey stepping down. If he had child pr0n, or was embezzling, or just fucking up the state of New Jersey beyond REPAIR (assuming that’s even possible), that I can understand.

But an affair… with a gay guy? People, get a grip!
He owes his wife and family one hell of an explaination, but I don’t see how that affects him as a governor. I assumed some kind of blackmail/lawsuit was in the works.

He’s a homo, a nancy boy. Big deal. I could have told you that FROM his pictures. He’s too well-groomed to be a straight man (*raises eyebrow at PA Senator Rick Santorum*).

But naturally it’s the “watercooler topic du jour” at work today.
Everyone agrees it’s no reason to step down, but then come the dividing lines between the sexes:

Women (Vaginum Illogicus) – Feel for Mrs. McGreevey, as they feel this is a worse blow to their womanhood than if their husbands had a fling with a cheap female hooker. They don’t understand how she can even stand there with all smiles at the conference.

Men (Penile Beerguzzlus) – “Aw hell, if the situation was reversed, and it was MY wife, I’d like to be there with a video camera, or at least get some polaroids out of the deal!”

Naturally, the ever-so-predictable “All men are pigs” came out of the female camp after I, uhm I mean, this person said this.

Amazing how men and women see things differently.

Pass the cigars around!

New ‘Bushism’ Born at Bill Signing

“Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we,” Bush said. “They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.”

See? Who said ingenuity is dead in America?
If the administration wants to hurt us too… well darn it, I guess it’s okay by me.

As long as it’s new and innovative.

Good for you, Mr. President.

In other unrelated news, Michael Moore suprisingly accepted a new job as Bush’s speechwriter yesterday…

Don’t stick it out unless you’re gonna use it!

Poor Jenna

Jenna Bush Sticks Tongue Out at News Photographers – Now, I’m really not keen at targeting presidential kids. I found it loathsome when our pillpopping-divorcing-his-third-wife paragon of virtue, values and morality Rush Limbaugh picked up a photo of a very insecure 13 year old Chelsea Clinton and called her “The White House dog”.

God damn… some things should just be off-limits.

Now you say, “then why are you doing THIS you fucking hypocrite?”. Well, moron, why don’t you let me finish before you pass judgment, ok asshole?

First of all, I think the Bush twins are kinda hot (they’re 22, I can say that). But do you get the impression that Jenna doesn’t want to be doing this? I’ve seen several photos of her and Barbara on the campaign trail… and in each of them they look like they’d rather be doing something else instead of being dragged across the countryside by their dad to meet fat, ugly middle Americans with missing teeth, smell like mothballs and being touched by their kids whom you can only pray have most of their shots…

(I know you were expecting me to say “…like hit a bar?”. Shut up. Like I said, I said, I’m not INTO taking potshots at them.) Point is… they REALLY don’t seem thrilled. It’s like me dragging my daughters around town to shop for new golf clubs. Those poor girls must be bored silly.

No, I can’t imagine the pain

Almost three years ago, I took a stand against showing any photos of people jumping to their deaths FROM the World Trade Center.

Not out of weakness, or the inability to face life at its most gruesome… but out of consideration and sympathy. New York City is an hour away FROM here. I can’t think of anything crueler than watching someone you love face their final moments on this earth.

Over and over… and over.

I did the same today with the video of Nicholas Berg being beheaded.
His family lives here in Pennsylvania. An hour away or so in the other direction.

I don’t see politics here, I don’t see business. I certainly don’t see the “public’s right to know”.

I see a family in a great deal of pain right now, and a kind of torment I can’t possibly imagine.

My tears go out to Michael Berg and his family tonight. And my heart truly breaks for you.

God bless… :*(

Sorry, can’t resist

“One thing is for certain, though, about me, and the world has learned this: When I say something, I mean it. And the credibility of the United States is incredibly important for keeping world peace and freedom.”

President Bush – 04/13/04

Hoo boy.

  • Trust, Don’t Verify – Bush’s incredible definition of credibility (Slate)
  • Read it already, George (Reverend Mykeru)
  • And for the “Bush inherited the recession” crowd, Blunted on Reality offers rock-solid proof the recession began in March 2001 (A little after Slick Willie’s reign).

It’s not been a good week, has it?
As Robin Williams once said: “Reality, what a concept!”

Personally, I never touch the stuff.

Getting the job done…

State Representative Kelly Lewis’ campaign site.

KellyLewis.ComIf all you see is a graphic that says “Launching March 1st”… well, that aint it (and don’t ask!). The new site is currently in propagation and you’ll see it in the next day or two. There will be tons of stuff added in the next few weeks, some PHP magic and my pushing some scripts FAR beyond the limits it was originally designed for.

We all worked together on The Reasons for Christmas Project, which helped raise money for an organization that helps homeless families get back on their feet.

I’m pleased and honored to be a part of the team again.

He’s a good man, good for this county… and he really does “Get the job done”.

(Well in all fairness, with a lot of help FROM his staff too. With all of the issues they have to deal with in this screwed-up ‘burg… It’s easy to spot me and his right-hand man, Jon, at the local diner… we’re the “really tired-looking guys” ready to zonk out INTO our lunches. zzzzzz *THUD*) :0)

Fun with the liberal media vol1

Anyone in the Pennsylvania area that has Blue Ridge Cable saw something interesting on the news tonight.

Are you gonna believe the media, or are you gonna believe me?
Good!

My friends work maintenance at Mountain Laurel Center for the Performing Arts.  A lot has changed since the glorious summer opening featuring Tom Ridge and the Philharmonic. I’m not too terribly comfortable talking about it, I’ve discussed it in my newsletter over the summer…

… but well, let’s just say “The Fat Lady is about to sing” over there, ok?

So Blue Ridge’s news crew was there (and denied access), my friends are moving computers, spot the cameras and their high-powered microphones, and One says out loud: “Do you want to bring these computers were stealing to your house or mine?”

Of course it’s been aired in its entirety. Sound and all. (*SNORT*)
Our phones have been ringing off the hook all day.
No charges have been filed on the two burglars yet. :0)

It’s all pretty sad, but I’m not ready to declare Mt. Laurel officially dead just yet.
Millions in grants and taxpayer dollars have been poured INTO it, and obviously it was run by incompetent morons.

Rather than pull for local support, they gambled on the New York, New Jersey, Philly crowd to pay New York prices to go to a place in the middle of nowhere.

Ask Lambchop what it was like trying to find my house last Spring. Mt. Laurel is the complex just before that, down the road. Tell me, ANYONE unfamiliar with the area will ever find the place? Duh.

Bill Watson offers a hilarious overview of “Mt. Laurel Center for Old Farts” in the latest EPCN. It offers a lot of of helpful ideas for Season two… and I hope SOMEONE is listening.

…I’m talking about those who aren’t going to jail, of course.

What’s coming up in 1984… uhm, I mean 2004

My stats are ridiculously low… at least here on WHUZZUP. I hear that same complaint on a lot of blogs I visit too. Like people went off on summer vacation, and never came back. (Most likely it’s “Supply and Demand”. I couldn’t *possibly* visit every site I link to in one sitting. And I’m sure I’ve pissed off everyone at this point to insure I’m not a “must read” anywhere.)

Elsewhere, my stats dictate it’s painfully obvious that the people want escapism and entertainment.

You may think I’m out of my mind for saying this… but I’m relieved.
This takes the pressure off of me HAVING to write here constantly. I have way better things to do, like unroll a 2004 redesign (or three with a “skinning option”), make much-needed repairs on my fonts, free stuff, and e-cards sections… bring back the “The Guestbook FROM Hell”.

And most of all, not have to discuss politics. I hate talking politics.
It turns people off as much as my flame wars did.

2004 Predictions: If you thought blogland was ugly with the Iraq war… you ain’t seen nothing yet. The Presidential race will be the nastiest viper pit of mudslinging, and emotionally immature and ignorant turdfest imaginable, and the web will definitely be one of the frontlines.

As much as I’d love to slam back at all of the “bad asses” who are just beginning to be aware of world events, and are suddenly “experts”… I’d rather leave that to the pros.
