According to Salon, AP is backing off of all the Elian Movie sites– BULLSHIT!
The Geocities page where I have “Elian_true.swf” was shut down today due to “Violations of Terms of Service“. I WAS going to stop running the movie tomorrow… but now it’s the principle of it…. PECKERWOODS!

Fuckin’ Tom! Can’t leave him alone for five minutes, and he gets in trouble! The web is all abuzz again over legal eagles busting the little guys chops….Tom Fulp’s NewGrounds.Com and Playboy.Com designer, Sean Bonner, have both been hit with “Cease & Desist” letters from the Associated Press … Over that silly “Elian Wassap?” movie….

Well… once again let’s FUCK with the people that make the web… you’d think they all learned from the e-toys saga.

Now we’re ALL playing the movie. It’s not only running here, but on Ratbastard.org , Playboy.Com, and at least 20 other sites as of today….and I’m sure the list will grow…

Tom Fulp of NewGrounds, happens to be a good friend of mine (not that he’s a stranger to controversy…”Assassin” has been blamed for everything from Columbine High School to the ’29 Stock Market Crash)… he was the creator of the Furby Screensaver in my Free Stuff section… and he’s always there for me when I’m stuck with a shockwave question. So bring on the “Cease & Desists”… we’re ALL ready!

This parody is clearly covered by the “Fair Use Act“, and it’s another case of lawyers going after people who can’t afford to call their bluff….Personally, I think Tom explained it best on his site….

You know… I rarely shove my religious/political/sports beliefs on you folks, but just so my favorite redhead doesn’t think she’s the only one defending our party, I’m prepared to issue the following ultimatum:

(Just like I did to Netscape users a few years back!) Speaking of that “It Takes A Village” crap that got my buddy Matt in such hot water a few weeks back… now may the time to remind folks that resent their music being edited/stickered with advisory warnings…. In the late 80’s the PMRC
  (Parents Music Resource Center) got that accomplished…. their leader: TIPPER GORE. Thought I should remind you during these crucial months before the election.

Been super busy, cyberpals! Not to mention bad luck that has been dogging me since December is showing no signs of letting up.

The baby went haywire last week… telling me that I have no CD Rom or Zip drive (running the recovery disk wasn’t even an option!). After four days of crashing & freezing I rushed to meet deadlines and saved whatever I could….

It’s back to normal thanks to Andrew Ban of Motorific who showed me step by step what to do… It’s still glitchy and I can’t wait to get Win2K and say goodbye to Windows 98 forever…

Preliminary designs for Reis Homes has been done and I’m meeting with the Gresser folks tomorrow about it and the prospect of Internet Broadcasting…
