UPDATE 12/20/04: Photos for the Reasons for Christmas II concert are up (better late then never, right?)

I’m not sure how long this site will be up… I have comments off because I already backed up MySQL and anything posted after this point will not exist after I make my move.

Reasons for Christmas II

The Secret Society of Happy People – Now THERE’S a GROUP just asking for persecution, donchathink?

Nah. It’s all good (as sick and twisted as it seems to me). I say more power to ’em. Better than spending the holidays with a bunch of depressed shmucks spreading doom & gloom, that’s for sure.

Like Billy Joel sings: “I’d rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints”.

Tonight’s the Reasons for Christmas II concert at the Hillside Inn (You’re coming, right? You regetted missing all the fun last year).

As my first day as a freelance graphic artist, tonight’s ORDER of business is… well, business.

All the movers and shakers of the Poconos will be there, and I just whipped up a batch of business cards to pass out.

I just hope all the performers at the concert will have the decency to keep the music down while I and said movers & shakers talk bidness. 🙂

Resignations (part two)

State Representative Kelly Lewis has resigned on Monday.
This is bad news for my area… as he has been one of the best things that’s ever happened to the Poconos.

NeoCon Jesus (now with Kung-fu grip)

I have a confession to make.
I’m left handed.
Please don’t hate me.

Oh right. It’s 2004. We’ve wised up in society and realized that southpaws are not cursed to be Satan’s minions unless we’re forced to write with our right hands.

Sounds silly don’t it? Less than two generations ago, schoolkids WERE forced to become right-handed because of silly superstitions. They’re still luckier than the people FROM 400 years ago that were burned as witches because of it.

We used to think Blacks and Jews were subhumans once. We wised up. Maybe we’ll wise up about gays some day. Maybe one day we’ll grow up and come to realize that gay people, like southpaws, are simply “wired different” than “normal” folks.

Between the four blogs I am currently managing… I have deleted well over 1,000 comment spams FROM this jerkoff in the past few days. You’ll never see them because WordPress has some awesome features that automatically detects spam and throws it INTO a queue, pending moderation.

Now for someone who asks “why do these people spam, it can’t be all that profitable?!!?”.

Apparently, you don’t understand the spamming industry.
The companies and websites that you are being spammed with are not the ones doing the spamming. They hire someone to do this.

The spammers get paid whether you buy the crap or not.

Protecting the brand

While revamping my Daily Carlinisms, I stumbled on this at George Carlin.Com:

“…Floating around the Internet these days, posted and e-mailed back and forth, are a number of writings attributed to me, and I want people to know they’re not mine. Don’t blame me.“

Right now, he’s doing what we in marketing call “protecting his brand”. A “brand” is an abstract concept that invokes trust and reputation. This is why someone will buy Tylenol instead of the big-ass bottle of acetaminophen next to it, at half the price.

When you think of the name “George Carlin”, a certain level of quality in comedy comes to mind (Another good example is “Microsoft”).

Turkey day (aka WWF family smackdown)

Oh Lordy, did Carole out-do herself this year. Cooking for nine, prepared for unexpected guests… and we’re STILL going to be taking Turkey/Pumpkin Pie variations to lunch with us for the next week or so. I hope you guys had a great one too.

I’ve been spending a lot of my time behind the scenes fixing things on the site, re-writing scripts and cleaning things up for a server move (are you as sick of this site’s downtime as much as I am?)
