Out of the mouths of babes II

Ashley: Daddy, who’s that girl on your desktop screen?
Daddy: That’s my friend Amber.

Ashley: She’s real pretty.
Daddy: Oh yeaaaah….
Ashley: Mommy’s gonna kill you when she sees that.
Daddy: Oh yeah. Definitely.

Wouldn’t *YOU* all like to see my new desktop wallpaper… <EvilGrin>

  • Programmer for Hire MetaFilter Guru, Matt Haughey is looking for work in the Bay Area. Man, if he can design a universal program for the Ottaway Paper sites, I’d recommend him in a heartbeat! Go ahead. Let me have it. I’m a big boy.

  • Happy Birthday Debra Smouse!
  • Sweet Sites: I just added NotSweet.Net and So anyway… to “Related links”.  Taste the chocolatey goodness as Bonni’s page loads!
  • Independent’s Day – The new brainchild of Zeldman & Company launches on the 10th anniversary of the World Wide Web.
  • Regarding the latest fracas over “The Ageless Project“… as I suspected, there was a whole other side of the story.
  • For personal reasons, I’ve made the decision to “tone it down” here and be more positive on my site. I have a more high-profile image due to my current position in the Poconos. For that matter, I’ve recently decided that WHUZZUP! is no longer a weblog. It’s back to being an “Update/What’s New” page. No more wars, no more linking to everyone just for mentioning my name. Deal with it.If that doesn’t work, I can always click on this link to remind me that life’s too short.

Virus Alert: VBS/VBSWG.X worm

No sooner did I get this notification from Proland Software, that at least three of these emails turned up in our mailboxes at work.

I set my message rules to delete any mail with the subject that these worms have once I get these notifications.

I can’t recommend “Protector Plus” enough. I’ve used Norton Antivirus on several occasions and caught at least two viruses because their scan turned clean and I clicked on files I normally would never… they suck.

Be careful out there kiddies…

Redesign update: Thanx for all the positive responses, and thanks for all the the “Mother’s Day” submissions. There’s still more time to get those pics in. Deadline is Saturday afternoon….

I’m working out all of the Netscape/IE issues… and it’s going to be a while before the site is totally done.

  • Some great scenes of the Spider-Man movie, shot in NYC on Thursday, over at Spider-Man Hype.Com
  • Via Webbieworld: Have you checked out Fonts-NOW! ??? Over 3,800 fonts… tons of links, articles & great resources for the budding young Fontographer. This site rocks.
  • Like Lucid Confusion, I refuse to give the Webbie Awards any acknowledgement, out of loyalty for Mark Connell… for those of you that don’t know, the idea of the Webbie Awards was taken from him..

… On your side.

Well, whaddya know….

A couple of CyberPals in New York City let me know that ABC’s Eyewitness News: 7 on your side, ran a story last night about the Poconos and the predatory lending practices going on, and driving people to foreclosure and bankruptcy.

And they even link to Matt Birkbeck’s series on their site.

For those not following the story…. it’s in the hands of the Feds now.

SCARED??? You should be. :0)

Dear “Big Dave” Bastian

Well… for what it’s worth, it seemed like you and the now, long-gone Webmistress Jo tried to keep Astounding Websites together for the longest time.

Not Davis…you guys.

Anybody that was there knows it.

Sometimes it seemed like you were commissioned to bail out the Titanic with the Styrofoam cups that the “Great Galactic Emperor” handed you.

In my humble opinion, Astounding Websites lost its novelty just a few weeks into it. Quite honestly, I checked in AW mainly for the discussion. The “NAG” section was the best… not that there was anything wrong with the reviews (except maybe an extreme bias against the “commercial”), It’s just that most of them really didn’t float my boat, and I didn’t even bother to even check the reviews after a while.

Don’t him get you down, big guy. And when you get your new project rolling, you can count on the gOdOfMiScHiEf for full support.

– Don’t be a stranger

Y’know… back in prehistoric times (circa 1998) Glen Davis *was* somebody…. almost a force to be reckoned with. These days, he comes off like a has-been, aging child star whose 15 minutes are up. Why can’t I be as eloquent as Jon??? He put it best here, almost a year ago….

Y-Rent…

Hey New Yorkers! Before you jump for the bait at the too-good-to-be-true “Why-Rent” commercials you see on TV… you know, the one where Raintree Homes pays your rent until you’re ready to move to the Poconos???

Check out part two of Matt Birkbeck’s series “A Price TOO HIGH“… here and here…

Part three goes up today at www.poconorecord.com and then into a special section called “Special Reports” sometime today (details to follow).
